Renton, WA Website
Situated on the south shore of Lake Washington, Renton is a lakefront city with
a spectacular natural backdrop formed
by the Olympic and Cascade ranges and spectacular Mount Rainier. The Cedar River
flows through the center of downtown and
provides an abundance of natural beauty. More than 53,000 residents take pride
in Renton's unique quality of life, strong
sense of community and excellent business climate. The city is home to one of
Boeing's giant aircraft manufacturing
facilities, but takes pride in balancing the needs of business with a clean,
natural environment and is committed to
maintaining open space. Renton features more than 2,800 acres of parks and playgrounds.
Gene Coulon Park is just one of its
waterfront treasures featuring canoe and boat launches. Beautiful parks, safe
neighborhoods, a growing downtown and abundant,
affordable housing all make Renton a great place to work and play. As a full
service and financially sound community, the
city offers outstanding police and fire protection, superior street maintenance
and its own supply of water that comes from
an underground aquifer. The real estate market is comprised primarily of single-story
homes with broad, open landscapes and
tree-lined streets. Many of the homes were built in the early 1950s. Condominiums
and townhouses begin in the low-$100,000s
and reach up to $500,000 and more for larger units with riverfront locations.
Single-family homes can be found starting in
the mid-$100,000s and ranging up to $2 million and more for lakefront estates
with spectacular views. Land is also available
for custom building.
The Renton School District spans 32.5 square miles and serves a population
of some 12,500 students in pre-K through 12th
grade. Students have the choice between 13 elementary schools, three middle
schools and four high schools. The district
proudly houses four Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence (Renton Park Elementary,
Hazelwood Elementary, McKnight Middle and
Lindbergh High). The district is also one of only 35 in the state to receive
the School Match Organization's "What Parents
Want" Award.
Renton Technical College has provided higher education and career training
programs for more than 60 years. In addition to
full-time and part-time training programs, the college offers a variety of
short-term courses through Continuing Education
and Community Programs. Numerous four-year colleges and universities including
the University of Washington are located
nearby. Renton's downtown is being transformed into a central gathering place
for residents and visitors through the development of a
regional transit center, a park-like piazza, major infrastructure improvements
and several mixed-use development projects
containing housing and retail. In addition, a 500-seat community performing
arts center and downtown-parking garage are also
being developed.
Thanks to its location just off Interstate 405 in close proximity to downtown
Seattle, SeaTac Airport, Port of Seattle and to
Bellevue, Renton has become a popular destination for top-notch companies.

shuttle bus system that transports them around town. Renton's municipal airport
is flowing with private pilots and seaplanes
and is the headquarters for Sound Flight sightseeing tours.
