Located just 12 miles from Seattle -- between Bellevue, Renton and the Cougar
Mountain area of Issaquah - the town
of Newcastle is home to less than 10,000 residents who enjoy a small-town atmosphere
with spectacular natural beauty.
Covering more than 3,000 acres, the Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park is
the largest park in the King County Park
System. The park is renowned for its many trails - with more than 36 miles of
trails for hiking and more than 12 miles of
horse trails leading to a variety of interesting destinations including abandoned
coal mines, stunning water falls and fields
of large glacier boulders. With backdrops including the Olympic Mountains, Puget
Sound and Lake Washington to the west and
the Cascade Mountains to the east, Newcastle is surrounded by breathtaking beauty.
This setting allows residents to enjoy
small-town life while having all the amenities of a larger metropolitan area
just minutes away. Residents of the tight-knit
community come together on a regular basis to celebrate life. Newcastle Days
-- held the second weekend in September --
celebrates the rich history of the town with family entertainment, food and a
variety of shows. Newcastle also offers
distinctive homes set amidst outstanding scenic views.
