Surrounded by incredible natural beauty, Mercer Island is an upscale
community that sits in the middle of
scenic Lake Washington. To the east are the Cascade Mountains; to the west
the Olympic range. The island is home to some
26,000 proud residents. Mercer Island has a lot to offer its current and prospective
residents. Both Seattle and Bellevue are
just a two-mile drive in either direction; the airport is approximately 15
miles away. The Mercer Island Town Center contains
a wide variety of businesses that provide services to residents. There are
also some corporate entities, and a budding
community of technology companies taking advantage of a central location between
Seattle and the high-tech Eastside where
Microsoft has its corporate headquarters. Mercer Island is known for its excellent
schools and well-trained workforce. Mercer
Island is home to a high percentage of professional people and executives and
CEOs of many of the leading companies in the
region. This is a tight-knit community that hosts a variety of annual events
each year. The “Summer Celebration” features
three-days of entertainment, food, an arts and craft fair, a fireworks show
and an assortment of activities for the entire
family. The island has much to offer in terms of recreational activity with its
300-plus acres of parklands and open space
featuring ball fields, extensive bike trails and picnic areas. In addition, there
are more than 50 miles of marked walking
trails. The island features quiet, wooded neighborhoods with city, mountain and
waterfront views.
